Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Openworked Selfwinding 15305ST.OO.1220ST.01 (Stainless Steel)
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Openworked Selfwinding Ref. 15305ST represents one of the most collectible modern interpretations of Gérald Genta's iconic 1972 design, combining the Royal Oak's legendary sporting architecture with the artistry of traditional Swiss skeletonization. Introduced at SIHH 2010, this reference was among the first serially produced Royal Oaks to feature a fully openworked dial, transforming the movement itself into the visual centerpiece.
The watch features a 39 mm stainless steel case retaining the Royal Oak's signature octagonal bezel with eight hexagonal screws, a design element that has defined the collection since its debut. Rather than a conventional dial, the openworked face reveals the full architecture of the movement beneath, with intricately hand-finished bridges displaying beveled edges, satin brushing, and polished countersinks — an extraordinary level of decoration typically reserved for precious metal timepieces. Despite the complexity of the skeleton design, the watch preserves remarkable legibility through luminescent hour markers and hands applied directly to the movement architecture. The transparent sapphire crystal caseback offers an additional view of the decorated movement and its 22K gold rotor, engraved with the Audemars and Piguet family crests.
The case construction includes a screw-locked crown and glareproofed sapphire crystal on both sides, providing a water resistance of 50 meters (5 ATM). At just 9.38 mm in thickness, the 15305ST wears with the same slim profile as a standard Royal Oak "Jumbo," maintaining the collection's famously elegant proportions.
Powering the watch is the Audemars Piguet Calibre 3129, a fully in-house self-winding movement and the skeletonized derivative of the celebrated Calibre 3120. It operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) with 40 jewels, delivering hours, minutes, and central seconds. The rotor is crafted from a single block of 22K gold, mounted on ceramic ball bearings for smooth, efficient winding, and the balance features variable inertia blocks for precise rate adjustment. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 60 hours.
The watch is fitted with the iconic Royal Oak integrated bracelet in stainless steel, featuring alternating brushed and polished finishing in the collection's characteristic style, secured by an AP folding clasp.
