The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean – Ref. 2598.80.00 represents the first generation of Omega’s professional deep-sea dive watches within the Seamaster family. Built for extreme underwater performance, the watch features a 45.5 mm stainless steel case with robust construction and a distinctive helium escape valve positioned at 10 o’clock, a hallmark of Omega’s saturation diving instruments.

The watch is fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel with orange aluminum insert, engraved with a 60-minute diving scale and luminous pip at 12 o’clock, allowing divers to track immersion time safely. The black dial ensures excellent legibility through applied luminous hour markers and hands filled with Super-LumiNova, while the central seconds hand provides clear visual confirmation that the watch is running. A date window at 3 o’clock sits beneath the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

The case architecture includes a screw-down crown, domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and a solid caseback engraved with the Omega Seahorse medallion, ensuring an impressive 600 meters (60 bar) of water resistance, making the watch suitable for professional saturation diving.

Powering the watch is the Omega Co-Axial Calibre 2500, an automatic chronometer movement incorporating George Daniels’ Co-Axial escapement, designed to reduce friction and improve long-term precision. The movement operates at 25,200 vibrations per hour (3.5 Hz) with 27 jewels and delivers hours, minutes, central seconds, and date, along with a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. The calibre is COSC-certified, confirming its chronometer-grade accuracy.

The watch is completed with a stainless steel bracelet equipped with a folding clasp and diver’s extension, allowing the watch to be worn comfortably over a wetsuit.
